Bosch Pest Control Throughout the Years

1949–1969

Foundations and Growth

Bosch Pest Control has been a trusted name in pest management since 1949. Our story began at 517 Roscoe Street when Robert Bosch founded the business, laying the foundation for what would become a pillar in the Muscatine community. Robert wasn’t just a business owner—he was deeply involved in our town, serving as Alderman-at-large and later as Mayor from 1960 to 1966. In 1959, he expanded the business by launching American Chemical and Rid-A-Bird, pioneering new pest management solutions. By 1964, we had joined the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce, further cementing our role as a community-driven company.

Expansion and Industry Leadership

In the 1970s, we took a major step forward by moving to 1224 Grandview Ave. Robert’s leadership in the industry was recognized when he became President of the Iowa Pest Control Association in 1971. One of our biggest milestones came in 1974, when we sold our rodent cake patent to Malcolm Stack, founder of Bell Laboratories—a move that helped shape modern pest control innovations.

New Leadership and Innovation

By the 1980s and 1990s, new leadership took the reins. Mike Rudolph stepped in as Vice President, guiding us through significant expansions, including the opening of a fumigation chamber. Eventually, Mike and Amy Rudolph became the proud owners of Bosch Pest Control, continuing the company’s legacy of service and innovation. During this time, we also sold Rid-A-Bird to Micro Surface in Wilton and relocated to 403 Mississippi Drive. Our commitment to environmental responsibility was recognized when Governor Branstad honored Mike for his work in Peregrine Falcon conservation.

2000–2024

Legacy and Milestones

The 2000s brought another new chapter when Jeff and Karol Cochran, along with LaMar and Kenlyn Miller, took ownership. Under their leadership, we moved to our current home at 1103 Grandview Ave and expanded by acquiring AAA Pest Control of Aledo. In 2019, we were honored to receive the Torch Award for Ethics, a recognition of our dedication to integrity and outstanding service. Sadly, we lost both LaMar and Kenlyn, but their impact and legacy remain at the heart of our company. In 2024, we proudly celebrated 75 years in business and 60 years as a Muscatine Chamber Member.
